ACTIVE OTOLARYNGOLOGIST

You can enhance your career while caring for Soldiers and their Families. As an otolaryngologist and an Officer on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you'll provide expert diagnoses and treatments to individuals suffering diseases, injuries and disorders of the ear, nose and throat. Requirements include:
- Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Eligibility for board certification
- Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Completion of a training program in otolaryngology
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (health care professionals ages 43 to 60 are now eligible for a two-year service contract under the OAPP program)
- U.S. citizenship


RESERVE OTOLARYNGOLOGIST

When you become an Officer on the U.S. Army Reserve Health Care Team, you'll be able to practice in your community and serve when needed. As an otolaryngologist, you'll learn about the latest treatments and diagnoses for disorders, diseases and injuries to the ear, nose and throat. The new skills you acquire will make a difference in the lives of our Soldiers and their Families, while enhancing the work you do every day.

Benefits include:
- Health Professional Special Pay of $75,000 for eligible specialties, paid in three yearly increments of $25,000
- Healthcare Professionals Loan Repayment (HPLR) of up to $50,000 over three years; may be applied toward qualified medical school loans
- Paid continuing education and training
- Non-contributory retirement benefits at age 60 with 20 years of qualifying service

- Travel opportunities, including humanitarian missions
