CORE DUTIES:

Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).

Direct, perform or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.

Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).

Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Current board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Successful completion of an approved Emergency Medicine (EM) residency acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General and board eligible/certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine

EXPERIENCE:

At least 2 years of emergency medicine experience within the last 3 years.
Physicians shall meet the experience, training, and certification requirements for the appropriate level of emergency medical staff physician in accordance with regulations

LICENSURE:

Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state in which a license is held.

Current with and have completed all continuing education requirements specified by their professional licensure or certification.

Must be current with and have completed all continuing education (CME) requirements specified by their professional licensure or certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross or Military Training Network emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.

Current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification is not required, however, successful completion of an ATLS course, at some point in the past is required.
