Emergency Medicine Physician

The Royster Group, Inc. is seeking a full-time/part-time Emergency Medicine Physician to join the dynamic team at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) - Fort Campbell, KY to provide a complete range of emergency medical services. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide emergency care services to our active-duty, retired military, and their families.

Duties/Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Perform a full range of Emergency Medicine services in accordance with privileges granted by the hospital.

The contract provider will perform a full range of medical services within the scope of Emergency services or Urgent Care to all patients and eligible beneficiaries regardless of the underlying disease process or physical condition of such patients or beneficiaries.

The contract provider shall see patients triaged as urgent/acute vice emergent in a timely manner and not less than three patients per hour during times when the emergent workload is low.

While performing under this contract, a contract physician may be the sole provider of medical treatment in the Emergency Center during a scheduled shift. The contract provider shall be fully aware that other than ancillary and support personnel, he or she shall be fully prepared to provide all of the emergency services required without assistance or supplementation by other MTF physicians.

Physicians performing services shall have sufficient experience to be able to adequately diagnose and treat diseases/injuries; perform medical procedures/tasks to include, but not limited to the following: disease and/or injuries related to the Skin, Head, Eyes, Nose, Throat, Neck, Cardiovascular System, Gastrointestinal System, Lymphatic System, Musculoskeletal System, Genitourinary System, Reproductive System, Psychiatric Disease, Central Nervous System, Endocrine System and Peripheral Nervous System.

Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency patients as they present themselves for care.

Treating urgent and non-urgent patients the contract physician shall abide by the service standards established by the hospital regarding expectations for timeliness of care and service

Patients presenting themselves with non-acute conditions shall be reassured and treated in priority as established by medical triage.

Provide medical care to patients in the holding area when necessary.

Prepare appropriate narrative summaries and patient profiles changes and document history, physical examinations, and preoperative diagnosis.

Document appropriate history, physical examination, required laboratory and x-ray examinations, preliminary diagnosis (as appropriate) prior to healthcare treatment.

Qualifications:

Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)

Experience: A minimum of one year in the past three years as an active Emergency Medicine Physician.

Board Certification: Must be board certified in Emergency Medicine or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice and have extensive current emergency medicine experience (worked more than 20 hours per week for the past twelve months in a similar or higher level emergency care setting.).

Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program (corresponding to the specialty required in the TO) which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training). For purposes of this requirement, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.

An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training an appropriate accrediting body.

A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body.

A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training.

Licensure: Must be in good standing, and under no clinical restriction, with the state licensure board in any state in which a license is held.

Certifications: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certifications must be obtained through an American Heart Association-approved training program.

Shall have and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number (certificate). License must correspond to DEA registration number.

Possess a National Practitioner Identifier.

Work Hours:

The performance hours of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital are as follows: 24 hours daily/seven (7) days a week/ 365 (366 days during leap years) days per year including Holidays. The BACH will provide the work schedule a minimum of 5-6 weeks in advance with schedules that are 10 or 12-hour shifts. All providers are required to provide a minimum of 5-night shifts per month. Shifts beginning at 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm are considered night shifts.
